Photoshoot: DJ Zita at Poleng Lounge [06/27/09]

Last Friday I stopped by Poleng Lounge [SF] to take photos of DJ Zita. We've been emailing each other on the possibility of having a future photoshoot and so I decided to come out and shoot a few shots of her at work to showcase my style [and to finally meet her in person!]

With the help of my girlfriend, she was the one who assisted me on this shoot as she held the "lightstick" as I've come to call it--a single flash head on a monopod.

A more directional lighted photo of DJ Zita.

DJ Zita looks at the camera as she preps for her set.

Probably one of my favorite shots of the night. I realized I can easily take photos that evenly lit but in my opinion this is something out of the ordinary.

Stay tuned for a future 'shoot with DJ Zita!

Hey Gee:

Thanks for the look. I just checked out your blog as well [nice fixie.. I ride too but an old schwinn drop down bars but geared].

About the pictures for Jensine, I mainly use a Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 because it has a constant aperture. I just don't like it though on the wide end there is distortion and that it's a bit too short on the long end. For close ups, I use a 50mm 1.7 prime stopped down to at least 2.0 for the shallow DOF.

I sometimes use a 70-200 f/4 if I'm a bit far off and want the shallow DOF as well.

As for the strobes, I'm an Alien Bees fanboy and use his [Paul Buff's] products. So yea, they are CyberSyncs and am waiting for their new CyberSync Commander to control the light levels wirelessly.

Anytime man if you wanna chop it up on photography just drop me an email. It's the best way to get a hold of me. I might be holding a lighting workshop in Daly City [non-profit] and will let you know. Just drop me an email at jcasas.photography@gmail.com

Hear from ya soon.
