Abbot and East Moltke: "Bed Frame with Drawers"

I haven't updated this blog roll in a bit but I do have several images that I've added to this collection since the last post. This was taken today before I ran my errands and it seems like the most common items from my observation has been bedroom-related items with mattresses being the number one counted item.

I've been working on this series for more than a year and it's interesting to see items come and go. I talked to my friend and editor Catherine who will will be working on this book as well and we've thrown some ideas here and there for the introduction that she will write.

Also, I do have an idea as to what I'd like to tie this project in after watching No Impact Man--if you haven't watch this documentary, go and get/rent it! Awesome film and some very good moments dare I say that are cute and heartwarming. That idea I'll keep under wraps until I figure out when this project is completed.

I'm still undecided when to close this project but until then, enjoy the series for now!

Abbot and East Moltke: Buckets, Red Vacuum, and Fallen Mattress

It's definitely been awhile since I've posted an Abbot and East Moltke post but there has been items left on the corner. I was disappointed when I returned from my doctor's appointment today that a black couch [and the "Fallen Mattress"] was gone! Sigh.

Nevertheless, I haven't set a date to close this project but will continue to document this corner until decided.

Couches are one the most popular items left behind in this corner. I want to say this has been the 5th left since the beginning of Spring taken this year. When I woke up that afternoon [after my previous night's clinical shift], it was surprisingly gone.

Update: [Project] Abbot & East Moltke

So I've been lagging quite a bit on posting images for my next project entitled Abbot & East Moltke. I've been taking images and have also added a Project page on my website jcasasphotography.com

Here's the text copied and pasted from the Project page:

Abbot & East Moltke records what is left behind on this particular corner. Countless items have been abandoned overnight magically and disappear in the same fashion the next day.

This project is a reflection of how our personal objects become a problem or solution.

Each piece has a story to tell and unfortunately that story too is abandoned. Where it will go or what will happen next to it is undetermined as well.

This collection of photographs are not of the past or future but a temporary portrait.

Once completed, proceeds will be donated to an undecided charity benefiting the environment in order to progress towards a greener Earth.

As of now, I'm not sure when I will [self] publish this body of work because the amount of photographs are infinite right now. Who knows when people will stop dropping random items! I am though planning on going to local mom/pop galleries in San Francisco to inquire on hanging these images [maybe 11x14's?] on the walls.

Regarding the photos being published into a book, I will also ask my high school classmate Catherine Abalos to write an introduction as she did for my Nonage. I will also be choosing a charity organization just as I did with Nonage and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to donate proceeds from the sales of the book.

I will continue to post images from this series on this blog as well as my website.

Project: Abbot and East Moltke: "Family's Beds"

Left today for coffee and came across a new left over at my street's corner. When I came back I snapped a few pics in different angles and this is the best shot I got.

I'm always surprised because in a few days, these will be gone [I don't know who takes them] and in a few days something new is bound to show up.

Project: Abbot and East Moltke: "Toy"

I've always wanted to do this.

Where I live, there's a set of apartments that live up my street. For some reason, the corner of where the apartments are has become notorious for random objects to be dumped and discarded.

Already starting in the beginning of the year, I've been photographing these objects and something new for me is using my compact digital camera [Sony W120 to be exact] rather than my DSLR.

I don't know how long this project will be for considering I'll be working on Lineage first. It is slated to be [self]published into a book though once I feel there are an adequate amount of images.
